Billie Jean Ragan

Billie Ragan, 88 year old Woodward resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with Reverend Jason Dirks and Reverend Gary Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Balko with Reverend Ted Barker and Reverend Fred Huff officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Billie Jean (Phelps) Morehead Ragan was born on September 18, 1934 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Earl and Lena Merle (McAdams) Phelps. Billie grew up in Beaver and attended Beaver schools. She received her GED in 1976 and attended Baking School in Balko and graduated from the Woodward Beauty College on August 11, 1977. Billie attended and graduated from the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Gerald Morehead on December 24, 1950 and they were blessed with two sons, Gary Neil and Brent Allen. Gerald preceded her in death in 1974.
Billie was united in marriage to Neil Ragan on August 20, 1977 at the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Together they ministered churches in Joplin, Missouri, Alvin, Texas, the Midway Christian Church in Logan, Oklahoma, before moving to Woodward in 2000. Neil preceded her in death on October 19, 2004. Billie continued living in Woodward.
She was a faithful member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Billie was saved at a tent revival in September of 1949 and her faith was very important to her during her lifetime. She volunteered at the church and the hospital for many years. Billie enjoyed farming, being a Pastors wife, water skiing, cooking and traveling in the RV with Neil.
She is survived by her son, Brent Morehead; one granddaughter, Chandra Shrum and husband Keden; one great-granddaughter, Ragan Shrum; two sisters: Dodie Hill, Daisy McGowen; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a sister LaVelda Smith, and one son Gary Morehead in 2009.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Faith Bible College with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
