Lowell Cooper, 87-year-old Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Seiling. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 6, 2025 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.
Charles Lowell Cooper was born July 10, 1938, to Jean and Alberta (Bradshaw) Cooper on the Homestead in Mutual, Oklahoma. Lowell grew up on the family farm and graduated from Mutual High School. He then attended Oklahoma State University and received his bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Lowell was united into marriage in 1960 to Nancy Jane Woods in Winfield, Kansas. During the first six years of their marriage, Lowell spent time in the National Guard until his discharge in 1966. The couple made their home in Mutual before recently moving to Woodward.
Lowell began farming with his Dad and continued farming with his brother until retirement. He was a member of 4-H in high school, and he and Nancy were members of the Woodward Wranglers Square Dancing club. He spent 50 years providing the daily weather reports to the National Weather Service. He loved to square dance with Nancy and their friends, meeting new people while traveling and camping in their RV. He spent many years helping with the Woodward County and District Stock Shows as a Sheep Superintendent.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, William Jean "Bill" Cooper and wife Paula; daughter, Debbie Skinner and husband Mark; brother, Gerald Cooper and wife Emma Lou; sisters, Shirley Bedwell, Glenda McFadin and husband Chuck; six grandchildren, Robin White, Derek (Larissa) Lamle, Kellcie Burnett, Lane Skinner, Audrey (Zach) Johnson and Ben Cooper; 12 great grandchildren, Chase (Carli) White, Clayton White, Chalee White, Lincoln Burnett, Bentley Burnett, Leighton Burnett. Blayne Burnett, Axel Burnett, Savannah Johnson, Cooper Johnson, KeeLee Lamle, and Rowan Lamle; one great-great granddaughter, Carter White; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Charles, parents, and older brother and sister-in-law, R.J. and Shirley Raye Cooper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
