Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home - SachseBillie Jean Rose, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Richardson, Texas, at the age of 85.
Born on December 5, 1939, in Mineola, Texas, Billie was the daughter of Henry and Mabel Allen. The family later moved to Garland, Texas, where Billie became a lifelong resident. She graduated from Garland High School, remaining a proud Garland Owl throughout her life.
Known affectionately by her students and colleagues as Coach Rose, Billie served as a long-term employee of Garland ISD, retiring at the age of 76. She spent a majority of her years in GISD at Toler Elementary as a beloved member of the P.E. team, where her dedication left a lasting impact on countless students and coworkers. She was known for her red Reeboks and bringing energy and fun to the gym, making trademark activities like Jump Rope for Heart, parachute play, and square dancing unforgettable favorites for her students.
Billie was a mom to four boys whom she loved, offering her help and support whenever they needed it throughout their lives. She was a treasured and loved grandmother, known affectionately as Jean to her grandkids. This special nickname originated when her eldest grandson, Jason, struggled to say Bibi Jean.
She was a faithful charter member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she also served as the secretary for the M and M Sunday School class. Outside of her work and family, Billie was known as a long-time Avon representative, hosting in-home parties and sharing products with her friends and neighbors. She was an avid fan of Soap Operas, Elvis, Western movies, and the Bee Gees.
Billie is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy Jack, her parents, siblings, Henriette Allen, Elaine Hughes, Bobby Allen, and Terry Allen and great-granddaughter, Ellie Faith Rose.
She is survived by her son Charlie Rose and wife Debbie; son Danny Rose; son Russell Rose; son Jerry Rose and wife Angela; sister Alice Myers; grandchildren Jason Rose and wife Brittany, Joshua Rose and wife Elena, Gigi Rose Meyer and husband Jeffery, Katie Rose-Maltbie and husband William, and Nathanael Rose; great-grandkids Freya and Eira Rose, Benjamin, Owen and Lincoln Meyer, Laney Maltbie and was anticipating the arrival of two great-grandsons later this year and early next year.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sandy Aldrich who helped Billie these last three years with unwavering compassion, service and care.
A come and go memorial will be held at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home 2925 5th St., Sachse, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
