Billie Sue Dilworth Obituary

Billie Sue (nee Farmer) Dilworth, 77 of Mason, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. Born September 15,1948, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Howard and Lucile Farmer.

After growing up in East Tennessee, Billie Sue moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she raised her family. When her oldest daughter left for college at the University of Tennessee, she decided to relocate with her youngest daughter “back home.” Although she attended college from 1966-1971, she left without graduating. After relocating she re-enrolled at UT and graduated on the same day as her oldest daughter and son-in-law in May 1994.

From an early age, Billie Sue loved everything about life on the farm. Her best memories included her grandfather and everything they would do together on his farm in East Tennessee. She carried these lessons with her the rest of her life. She could grow anything, but her favorite was okra.

She was always proud of her East Tennessee heritage, but when her health started to decline, she moved to Mason, Ohio, to be close to both of her daughters and their families. She found much joy in being able to attend anything her grandchildren were a part of and was honored to be a faithful member of Liberty Heights Church. Over the years, God moved her into the position of leading a life group where she was able to pass along her love for Jesus and passion for heaven.

As a woman who worked many jobs over the years from school bus driver, to preschool teacher, to central supply manager, in her final years, she probably found the most fulfillment in returning to substitute teaching at Mason High School. She would not let anyone talk badly about “teenagers these days.”

Grammie, as she was known by her grandkids, loved well. She didn’t give the biggest hugs or sweetest kisses, but she would shower you with gifts and tell you how proud she was of you. Her biggest love though was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus at the age of 7 and followed Him the rest of her life. She loved Him deeply and was confident He was waiting on her in heaven. She wrote, “Try to live each second of your life in effort to be as much like Jesus as possible.”

Billie Sue is survived by her sister Anna Kay (nee Farmer) Cooper, daughters, Wendy Pitcher (Tim) and Erin Jackson (Jeremy), grandchildren, Caleb Pitcher (Elizabeth), Brendan Pitcher, Jeffrey Pitcher, Andrew Pitcher, Asher Jackson, Hayes Jackson and Larkin Jackson.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center SICU and the staff of Chesterwood Advanced Therapy Center for their love and care for Billie Sue over the last two months.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Liberty Heights Church, 7904 Princeton Road, Liberty Township, OH 45044, from 11:00am-12:00pm with a Celebration of Life Service following at 12:00pm.
