Mary Lou (nee Sturgill) Richardson, 90 of West Chester, passed away on October 14, 2025. Born to John Wallace and Oma May (nee Maggard) Sturgill on September 3, 1935, in Whitesburg, Kentucky.
Mary was the definition of love. She loved her family, friends and the children she taught. She poured her heart into teaching, and it showed. Mary had instilled a love of learning into her 5th grade students over her 30-year career in teaching.
Mary enjoyed her garden, canning her veggies and cooking for her family. A ball of energy and positive attitude, she would zip around always staying busy. Mary was generous and kind. She had an immense amount of patience. She took time to talk and learn about new people and was always willing to listen to and solve problems with you.
Her devotion to her family was unmatched. She was the calm presence everyone needed and the energy that made you laugh all the time. A devoted mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly; especially for her strong hugs that could be felt forever.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Henry “JR” Richardson, grandson, Johnny Richardson III and two siblings, Thomas Sturgill and Joy Rodgers.
Mary is survived by her children, John Richardson Jr (Michelle), Patti Henry (Gary) and Gary Richardson (Christina), grandchildren, William Henry (Angela), Shanna Meade, Amber Armstrong (Jay), Nathan Reynolds and Olivia Szerszen (Kevin), great grandchildren, Colin, Sierra, Adelynn, Mackenzie, Christian, Makayla, Julia, Chloe and Llily, great great grandchildren, Dorian and Aryiah, many nieces and nephews.
