Billie Swallows Obituary

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Billie Firn Swallows age 85 of Onondaga, MI and formerly of Cookeville, passed away Tuesday January 6, 2026 at her home. She was born September 24, 1940 in Byrdstown, TN to the late George Washington Fulton and Bonnie Pearl Neal Fulton.

Billie was known for her stubborn strength as much as she was for her gentle compassion. She was so much to so many people. She was a night owl by nature that also loved the sunshine, gardening and flowers. Her favorite place to be was outside with her fingers in the dirt. Her other favorite place to be was fishing with the love of her life, her husband of over 50 years, Junior. She loved her family and would do anything for them, often quietly sacrificing her own needs to make sure everyone around her was cared for. She showed her love in everything she did from making peanut butter fudge to sewing clothes and upholstery. She saw the real beauty in the world and could make trash into treasures, all while listening to some classic country music on her record player, especially if it was Elvis Presley. She loved our Lord Jesus and wanted nothing more than for everyone to have a relationship with Him.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willie "Junior" Swallows, her sisters Leah Mae Carr, Lula (and husband Junior) Horn, Evy Loftis, and brother Earnest Fulton.

Billie is survived by her sisters, Geraldine Loftis and Georgie Fulton; brother, Floyd (wife Janice) Fulton; and brother in law, Harlon Loftis. Billie and Junior had four children who survive her, Angela (husband Glenn) Trumbo, Steven Swallows, Michael (wife Loretta) Swallows, and Georgette (husband Owen) Thomas. She has 13 grandchildren, Kendra, Brandon, Kristin, Heather, Kayla, Cherish, Emily, Blake, Dalton, Dillon, Victoria, Owen Mathew, and Ziva; and 29 great grandchildren.

A funeral service honoring Billie will be held Saturday January 10 at 2:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Joel Hillis will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 1 - 2 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Smyrna Cemetery.
