Billie Zimmerman, 88 a life long resident of Gibsonburg passed away peacefully early Wed morning at Good Shepherd Nursing home in Fostoria. Born and raised in Gibsonburg to Orto and Evanell Down Baker. She graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1955 and in the fall of the same year married Robert Zimmerman spending 57 years together until his passing in 2012.
Together they raised 3 children, Jeff (Cynthia) Zimmerman Fostoria, Lisa (Jeff) Smith Daytona Beach, FL; Lori (Rick) Carver Gibsonburg.
Billie and Robert raced Go-karts at the Gibsonburg track and won many championships and then got into raising P.O.A ponies. She was a charter member of the Gibsonburg Saddle Club, Rocky Top Saddle Club and the International P.O.A. Club serving as secretary for many years.
They loved participating in local parades, horse shows, fairs and trail rides during the summers.
Surviving in addition to her children are grandchildren Clint Wagner, Melanie Norden, Elizabeth Murphy, Renee Dover, Robert Smith, Karla Adams, Kristen Ickes and Sarah McMillan. Several Great Grandchildren and her brother Daniel Baker, sisters in law Betty Fairbanks, Sandy Baker and Bev Baker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Lois Baker, Shirley Candler, Jackson Baker, Jerold Baker and Glendolyn Rife.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Ron Merritt.
Internment will be at a later date at Quinshan Cemetery, Gibsonburg. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hopfinger-Zimmerman Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hermanfh.com
