Billy Dickson, 84, of Tallahassee, FL, died Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Centre Pointe Health & Rehab. He was born December 6, 1940, to WB and Prudence Dickson in Grand Ridge, FL. He graduated from Grand Ridge High School in Grand Ridge, FL, and Chipola College in Marianna, FL.
He served in the United States Air Force for five years in BC, Canada. He returned home and entered the Florida Highway Patrol, where he proudly served for 46 years. He attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, graduating in 1976. He served all over Florida, beginning in Miami, FL, where he met Harriet, the love of his life. They were married 55 years and retired in Tallahassee, FL. After retiring as a Lt. Colonel in the Highway Patrol, he served as a civilian consultant for the Leon County Sheriff’s office and worked proudly with the Honorable Sheriff Walt McNeil.
His faith and family were so important to him. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Dickson; his mother, Prudence Dickson; his father, WB Dickson; and his loyal pets, Max and Bear.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth (Ronnie) Allen; son, David (Jennifer) Dickson; grandchildren, Zachary Folks, Heidi (Caleb) Segers, Cameron (Shannon) Allen, Caitlen Allen, Connor (Courtney) Allen, Tyler (Emily) Dickson, and Christian Dickson; great-grandchildren, Michael Segers, Charlotte Segers, Addilyn Morgan, Declan Morgan, Ezra Allen, Norah Allen, Knox Berigan, and Lennyn Allen; and his loyal dog, Tuff.
Thank you to all his wonderful friends and family who spent time with him. Also, thank you to his doctors and staff at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, the staff at Specialty Select and the Staff at Centre Pointe for taking good care of our beloved Dad for the last several months.
Funeral services will be, 4:00 PM EST, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, FL. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL with full Florida Highway Patrol Honors and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
Visitation will take place 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM EST, at Fellowship Presbyterian Church, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House, Tallahassee, FL, and Tunnel Two Towers in honor of Billy Dickson.
