KERNERSVILLE – Billy (Bill) Gene Mason, 88, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. Bill was born on November 1, 1936, in Cherokee county, NC, to the late William Odis and Gladys Ledford Mason. Bill was devoted to serving the Lord. He was a long-time member, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Enon Baptist Church, and in his later years he attended Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville. Bill will not only be remembered as a devoted husband, but a father who stood firm in his beliefs and guided his daughters and grandchildren with his wisdom, understanding, and love. Bill met his wife and high school sweetheart, Helen, when they were teenagers and spent over 66 wonderful years together. Bill enjoyed spending his free time outdoors tinkering on various projects, camping, and fishing. He spent many serene hours at their river home with family and friends. One of Bill’s biggest passions was the work he did with Nehemiah’s Few, a ministry that allowed him to build lasting friendships and deep bonds while serving others. His commitment to this cause was a reflection of his faith and love for people. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army. Bill will be missed incredibly by those who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Helen – the love of his life; two daughters, Denise Easton (Mike), Tricia Mason, four grandchildren, Brandon Cheeks (Ashley), Benjamin Easton (Erika), Allyson Pearson (Dylan), and Christina Allgood (Seth); seven great-grandchildren, Mallon Cheeks, Samuel Cheeks, Oaklei Cheeks, Kinsley Easton, Hayden Easton, Ayden Pearson, and Liam Allgood; one brother, Danny Ray Mason (Sue), and many nieces and nephews.
