Billy Ray McClarnon, known affectionately as Bill to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 81 on June 21, 2025, in Neosho, Missouri. Born on August 16, 1943, in Clarinda, Iowa, Bill was a man of great character and warmth, whose presence was a comfort and joy to those around him. Bill proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Conflict. His patriotic service was a testament to his courageous spirit and dedication to his nation. Following his military service, Bill continued to demonstrate his commitment to his fellow servicemen and women as an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Throughout his life, Bill found solace and joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, often found admiring the serene beauty of ducks on the water. His passion for sports led him to become a soccer and bowling coach, sharing his love for the games with young athletes. Bill's bowling prowess was well-known, and his skill was immortalized when he won the Tri-State Bowling Tournament in 1961. Bill's greatest joys, however, were found in the laughter and company of his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Yeakle, his parents, his brother Russell McClarnon, and his sister Kay Jones. He was also a doting grandfather to his grandchildren Sam and Lou, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry on his legacy: his sons, Mitchell McClarnon of Iowa, Andrew McClarnon of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Anthony McClarnon (Brandi) of Castle Rock, Colorado; his sister, Ramona Zeiler of Missouri; and his cherished grandchildren, Beth, John, Anastasia, Zac, Mary, and Ryan. His spirit will also live on in the hearts of his extended family and a multitude of friends, all of whom will dearly miss Bill's thoughtful and loving nature. Bill's life was one of connection and generosity. He was a man who found happiness in the success and happiness of others. His thoughtful nature made him a beloved figure in his community, and his courageous soul inspired those around him. Bill was a loving individual, not just to his family, but to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Pineville Christian Church, 803 Main Street in Pineville, Missouri. Pastor Phil Scott will officiate.
