Joyce B. McClarnon, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on August 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. A proud native of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Joyce was born on November 25, 1942, to the late Noah and Carrie Brown. She graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1961 and went on to complete her studies at Mitchell Hair Style Academy in May of 1966.
Joyce married Calvin E. McClarnon on April 5, 1964, in Greensboro, Indiana. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother, truly finding joy in her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents, her two daughters Catherine Yvette McClarnon and Eugenia Ann McClarnon, her nephew Walter Ray "Billy" Rivenbark, and her sister Gladys R. Mobley.
She is survived by her husband and her daughter, Heather M. Tart and husband Donald B. Tart Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC, her two grandchildren Cassidy Brooksann Tart and Ashlyn Brook Tart, her sister Ethel M. Barrow, and several nieces and nephews (Nephew, Charles Barrow Jr of Conetoe, North Carolina, and five nieces; Phyllis Gardiner, Beverly Massey, Greta Temple of Roanoke Rapids and Donna West and Pam Harris of Littleton, North Carolina.)
Services will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 29,2024 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation's Chapel with Reverend Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM. Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
