Bobby Ray Nethery, Sr., 87, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on June 22, 2025 at Wilson Pines Nursing Home.
Bobby was born the son of Dorsey and Ethel Nethery on June 4, 1938 in Roanoke Rapids, NC. In his younger years, Bobby was a Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1956 and served in the Army in his early adult years. Bobby had a huge passion for softball and played in local leagues for many years. He also enjoyed shooting pool and was always up for a challenge at any local pool halls. Bobby's true passion was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey and Ethel Nethery, his brother, Richard Nethery, and his son-in-law, Michael Ogburn.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Nethery; his four children, Sandy Ogburn, Bobby Nethery (Laura), Crystal Mantalvanos (Aris), and Dorsey Nethery (Becky); grandchildren, Mike and Troy Ogburn, Scott Stokes (Katy), Barbie Love (Brad), Mindy Liles (Jeremy), Dylan Stokes (Ashley), Kaleigh Stokes, Corey Nethery, Jamie Nethery and Tonya Manning; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Dillon, Mason, Trinity, Ryleigh, Karson, Isaiah, Henry, Katie and Oakley. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Nina Nethery and nephew, Steve Nethery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or any hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 595 Zoo Road North, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
