Phillip Douglas Mason passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Wake Medical Hospital. He was noted as one of the brightest minds who sought to learn constantly. Phillip was one of the most loyal to others and wanted more than anything to please them. He believed firmly in affirmation and friendliness in his everyday relationships. Philip was a Christian, was devout in his faith, and shared his praises to God and his thankfulness in all things. He tried to feed on positive thinking and was always looking forward to growth, abundance, and being able to share that with others.

Phillip was born into a proud military family and joined his father in the USAF, his mother, and an older brother, when they lived in Anchorage, Alaska until 3 years old. His family transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming next and lived there for 10 years. At 13, Phillip's family moved to Roanoke Rapids, where he attended Chaloner Jr. High School and graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1998. He chose UNC Wilmington for his college years, studying Business Administration. Phillip excelled in academics, loved music and acting, sang in various chorus events, and had many roles in local plays at school, in First for Freedom in Halifax, and at the Lakeland Arts Theatre in Littleton. He was awarded the opportunity to attend the N.C. Governor's School for Music in Winston-Salem in high school. He continued his love for music and chorus throughout his college years.

Phillip worked after high school as a server for a number of years. His love of entertaining, highly social personality, and pure desire to please others was a satisfying fit. Then, he found his passion in sales. It challenged him daily and gave him a sense of pride. He was connected to people and helping them find the best he could offer. He had a true understanding of customer care. In addition, he always presented with a smile.

Phillip met the one, Sarah Stewart Bradshaw, who stole his heart in 2008. They married in 2011 in a beautiful wedding in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They completed their family last year with their fifth child, as Phillip and Stewart always wanted a large family. These precious darlings are his legacy. His heart was big and fulfilled. He often had a story about, or a new picture of his family to share.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Sarah Stewart Bradshaw Mason, their children, Saraholden McCall, Phillip Douglas Browning, McAllister Grey, Collier Rose McKethan, and Patterson Douglas Bronwen, all of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Douglas and Brenda Rose Mason of Roanoke Rapids and his older brother, Marcus Shaw (Christina) of Sims, N.C., his nieces and nephews, Renee Shaw Maull (Cody), Connor Shaw (Cynthia), Ty Philpott (Jenny), Rayne Philpott, and three great nephews, Easton, Rowan, and Oliver. There are extended family members in North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, and California to include uncles, aunts and cousins. His in-laws are from Fayetteville, N.C., Joel and Betsy Bradshaw, Grey and Currie Bradshaw (Kara).

Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Irene Mason from Seneca, S.C. and Homer and Doris Rose of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He also had a deceased older brother, Jimmy Shaw III.

In Lieu of flowers, and educational trust for his five children has been established. The following link will take you directly to the GoFund me page if you feel led to contribute to their future; https://gofund.me/6acff05e.
