Mrs. Doris Mason

Mrs. Doris Mason, 85, of New London, passed from this life on September 26, 2025, in Tyler. She was born July 29, 1940, in Smith County and has lived in New London for the last 52 years. Mrs. Mason attended Gaston schools, and later on in life, she would return to drive a bus for West Rusk CCISD. After high school, Doris attended school to become a beautician and subsequently owned and operated a beauty shop in New London for many years. At the end of her career as a beautician, she went on to the oil field working for Fleming Oil Lease and later retired from ETOS. In her spare time, she loved to travel and enjoyed many camping trips with her beloved husband John. She was preceded in death by her father D.W. Mitchell, mother Violet (Boyd) Hunter, and her husband of 64 years John Mason. Survivors include her children Missy Barber of New London, and Bruce Mason and wife Carlia of New London; sister Erma Walker of Palestine; 5 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
