Billy Paul (Bill)Samaras, 70, January 31, 1954- February 7, 2024.

Bill was born on January 30, 1954, in Indianapolis, to Harry and Reba Samaras. He graduated from Decatur Central High School. While growing up in his family with one sister and three brothers, he enjoyed camping with his family at Dale Hollow Lake and attending family gatherings, and any shenanigans his siblings would come up with. He was the next to the youngest and received the same expectations as his siblings, despite having some physical limitations.

Bill moved to New Hope services on Aug 26th, 1978. He took pride in being with New Hope from its inception. He was one of the honorees last year at New Hope’s 45th Anniversary celebration. Bill said that moving to New Hope was “one of the best days of his life!” Most recently, Bill resided at Washington Boulevard and lived there with his friends until he passed. He also attended Day Services and was beloved by so many at New Hope. He served on the New Hope Board of Directors, Human Rights Committee, Client Communications Committee, and the Tenants’ Rights Committee. He was a talented artist who loved sculpting and ceramic works. Last April, Bill was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Award at the Indianapolis Airport’s Art Exhibit where Bill’s art, along with works of other artists, was on display. Bill always enjoyed a good time with good conversation, music, and old movies. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Bill will be greatly missed by so many at New Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Harry and Reba Samaras, and his brothers Chris Samaras and Tony Samaras. He is survived by his sister, Rosanna Samaras Morgan (husband-Oz), brother, Harry Samaras, sister-in-law Cathy Vetter Samaras, and many nieces and nephews.
