With heavy hearts but a sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we celebrate the life of Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Marr, who passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on August 1, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN to his parents Edgar and Violet Louise (Davis) Marr Sr., Jeff was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose simple yet profound life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
A proud 1969 graduate of Decatur Central High School, Jeff made a career as a Service Manager at Indianapolis Spring, where he worked diligently for over 15 years until his retirement in 2016. His passion for auto mechanics and love for working on cars and motorcycles were evident to all. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on trips across the United States, with the iconic Sturgis rally being a favorite destination.
Jeff's sharp wit, intelligence, and kind-hearted demeanor endeared him to many. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. He was not only a hardworking man but also an avid gun collector who enjoyed the simplicity of life and the company of those he loved.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved children: daughter, Jennifer Marr of Indianapolis and son, Joshua Marr (Susan) of Berlin, Germany. He is also survived by two step-children, Melissa "Missy" Carmin (Danny) of Shelbyville and Michael Miers of Brazil; bonus children Charles Roberts and Peggy Kelley; and eight grandchildren: Karl Marr, Cody Hudson, Kyle Hudson, Hunter Miers, Trevor Miers, C.J. Roberts, Leanne Roberts, and Gunner Kelley. Jeff also took great pride in his four great-grandchildren: Everleigh Hudson, Blakeleigh Hudson, Dawson Hudson, and Ella Grace Miers, as well as his long-time girlfriend, Martha Roberts of Trafalgar.
Jeff is preceded in death by his wife, Beverley Marr, his parents, and three brothers: Edgar Jr., James S., and Paul R. Marr.
A celebration of Jeff's life will take place on January 16, 2026. Family and friends are invited to join us for a public visitation at 12:00 PM at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A funeral service honoring Jeff's remarkable life will commence at 1:00 PM, leading to a graveside service at West Newton Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
As we gather to honor his memory, let us reflect on the warmth he brought into our lives and the love he shared so freely. Jeff's spirit will forever shine in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding us all to cherish the simple moments and the bonds of love that connect us.
