Billy Harry Word

Billy Harry Word, 62, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on March 11, 1961 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Billy Hayes and Genive Norene (Mouse) Word. He went into his loving Lords arms on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Billy married the love of his life, Sherri Jan Hendricks on June 2, 1995 in Sayre, Oklahoma. He worked for the Elk City Fire Department serving this community with dedication and loyalty. He worked his way up the ladder and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2011 and in May of 2014 he became Chief. He retired from the Elk City Fire Department after thirty-two years of service.
In his off time he enjoyed music and working on house projects but Billy loved spending time with his family and friends above all. Billy was a member of the Elk City Masonic Lodge for many years.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at First Baptist Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Danny Ringer will officiate. The family would like to invite all that come to wear their favorite concert t-shirt in honor of Billy. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing his memory is his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Sherri, of the home; daughter, Kelbie Odom and her husband, Tony, and their children, Kaleb Odom, Sadie Odom and Railee Odom all of Elk City, Oklahoma, and daughter, Jarren Word and her son, Grey Foster of Elk City, Oklahoma; one sister, Nancy Weaver and her husband, Terry of Tuttle, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Genive Word.
