Billy Wayne York

Billy Wayne York, aged 79, peacefully passed away on January 9, 2026, at his home in

Carolina Beach. Born on May 24, 1946, in Randolph County, he lived a life filled with

dedication, community, and cherished moments.

Billy's career was marked by his many years of devoted service at Bell South

Telephone, from which he retired with the respect of his colleagues. His professional life

was complemented by his deep commitment to community service, including his active

involvement with the American Red Cross.

In his personal life, Billy found great joy in spending time at the coast, where he

embraced the serene beauty of the ocean. His faith was an integral part of his life. He

was a longtime member of Whites Chapel Community Church in Liberty and also

attended Beach Community Church in Carolina Beach.

Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda, and his parents, Howard and

Inez York. He leaves behind a host of cousins and friends who will remember him fondly

for his warmth and kindness.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Loflin Funeral Home. A

graveside service will take place on Friday at 3 PM in the Whites Chapel Community

Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Michael Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whites Chapel Community Church

Building Fund, 2284 Ramseur-Julian Rd., Liberty, NC 27298. Billy will be deeply missed
