Blanche Jane Hobbs

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Blanche Jane Hobbs, 96, of Anchorage, Alaska, who peacefully passed away on July 11, 2025. She was born in Arling, Idaho to John and Lucy Strauchon and traveled to Anchorage, Alaska in 1952 with her two children to join her husband Howard Hobbs who preceded her in death in 2012.
Blanche was the beloved mother of five children: Helen Fuge (and her late husband Robert Fuge) Billye Jean Sepe (and her husband Ron Sepe), Kristine Hobbs, Sharon Kofoid (and her husband Les Kofoid) and Michael Hobbs (and his wife Margaret).
Grandmother to eight children: Shannon Fuge (wife Amy), Samantha Fuge, Bridget Sepe, Roland Michael Stock (wife Tiffany), Ryan Kofoid (wife Amy), Kimberly Casler (husband Melvin), David Hobbs, and Roy Hobbs (partner Jodie Mae).
Great-grandmother to 11 children: Zayne Fuge, Chyanne Conway (husband Nathan), Alexia Sepe-Gomez (husband Jesse Ouzts), Taylor Brouillet-Stock, Brooklyn Stock, Annika Stock, Everly Jane Stock, Eisley & Ethan Kofoid, Aubrey & Brayden Casler, and NovaLeeigh and Jorden Hobbs. Two Great-great grandchildren plus 2 expected this winter.
She was known for her kind heart and dedication to her family. She cherished her time with family and thoroughly enjoyed family dinners.
Blanche started her career as a telephone operator in Cascade, Idaho when she was 16 years old. In 1961 she began working for Anchorage Telephone Utility and retired in 1985 as a telephone operator. She enjoyed participating as a member in the Alaska Waheed Clown unit which provides support for the Shriners Hospitals for children and community charities. This gave her an excellent outlet for her sense of humor and love of children.
Her granddaughter Samantha Fuge took her to her first quilting class, which was the beginning of a craft she dearly loved and excelled in! Blanche was a true master of arts and crafts - a creative spirit whose hands could bring anything to life.
Funeral services will be held on July 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Located at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E. Street. Followed by reuniting her ashes with her husband at their gravesite at the Anchorage Memorial Park at 3:00pm.
