Blanche Ann Booker ("GG") was born on May 1 st, 1933, in Farmville, VA from the union of Vanderbilt and Clara (Scott)
Booker. She was preceded in death by her four siblings, Ronald, Toussaint, Cliamento, and Vanderbilt Booker,Jr.
Blanche graduated from Robert R. Moton High School in Farmville, Virginia, then ventured to New Jersey. In1952, she
married Richard James Smith and from that union had four children Ricardo J. Smith(deceased), Cassandra Smith, Renata
Smith(Carter) and Tomisa Smith. "GG" leaves behind a legacy of nine cherished grandchildren: Lakeshia Bend, Chappell Mosely, Ricardo Smith, Jakia Smith, Duron Moten, (Quanell, Queshaun, Quiniesha Carter) and Wendell Arrington; Ten great grands, and a host of loving family and friends.
Blanche worked at Vernon McMillan in Elizabeth, NJ for many years. Her last employment was at Greenbrook Regional Center, in Greenbrook, NJ as a Cottage Training Technician, while also employed at Cedarbrook Elementary School as a Cafeteria Aide for 30+ years.
"GG" was a God-fearing woman and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield, NJ. She enjoyed gospel music,
traveling, shopping, discussing political matters (MSNBC) and spending time with family and friends.
Blanche and her husband, Richard J. Smith, envisioned a broader future for their family, sowing the seeds of their dreams,
despite their meager beginnings. After the passing of her dear husband in 1983, she maintained their shared vision with hard
work, diligence, and patience until her heavenly transition.
Our mother is in heaven ironing wrinkle-free sheets, watching MSNBC with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and taking very,
very good care of herself, as she always did.
While faced with illness, Mom fought with unwavering strength, fueled by the unconditional love of her daughters, Cassandra,
Renata and Tomisa.
Mom, it was our honor and duty to care for you.
Mother, may your soul rest in eternal PEACE!!!

Sandy, Renata and Tomisa,

I have known your mom most of my life. She was like a second mother to me. She and your father introduced me to Shirley Bassey! Such fond memories and love over the years.

I know what you are going through. May God be with you today and every day.
Love Pat
