Robert “Poker” Alonzo Baek, age 81 of Oxford passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 at Our House Memory Care in Wisconsin Dells. Robert was born in Portage on October 21, 1942 to Alonzo and Adeline (Gierut) Baek. He attended Portage High School and initially went to work at Oscar Meyer in Madison before becoming a self-employed painter. Robert married Patricia “Pat” Mrofchak on January 29, 1971 in Rockford; together they were blessed with two children. Following his painting career in the Portage area, Bob and Pat relocated to Wisconsin Dells and ultimately to Oxford in 2006.
Robert had a love for old cars; he fixed them, he restored them and went to countless car shows to be surrounded by more old cars. He took meticulous care of his yard and enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob will be remembered for his big smile.
Robert leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Pat and two children: John (Dawn) of Packwaukee and Tennille Baek of Montello as well as six grandchildren: Sabrina, Josh, Lexi (Warren), Lucas, Miranda and Waylon. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Jase, sisters-in-laws: Shirley Baek and Pam Klingbeil and special cousin, Gloria (John) Allen as well as several other extended family members.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin, granddaughter, Brittany, brother, Jerry and mother-in-law, Lucille Mrofchak.
Honoring Robert’s wishes, private services will be held.
