Bob Helm, of
Norman, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Norman, at the age of 87.
Bob was born on September 2, 1938, in
Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Loren and Bernice (Irwin) Helm. He spent his early years in Anadarko before moving to Norman during his senior year of high school, where he later graduated.
Bob went on to attend the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor's degree in Accounting. A proud Sooner through and through, his love for OU extended far beyond his college years and into every season of OU sports.
Bob built a long and successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, working most of his life in the field. He lived for a time in Oklahoma City but spent the majority of his life in Norman. He served as Executive Vice President of CMI Construction Management, Inc., remaining with the company until it was sold to Caterpillar. During his career, Bob became one of the top 50 highest-paid executives, yet he never let success define his character.
Despite his accomplishments, Bob was known most for his humility, kindness, and deep respect for others. He never looked down on anyone, always stood up for hardworking employees, and made it a point to recognize and appreciate those around him. His leadership was rooted in compassion, fairness, and integrity.
Bob enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson, and cheering on all Oklahoma Sooners sports. He lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: don't worry about tomorrow, cross that bridge when it comes. Take life one day at a time, and never measure success by a bank account.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jerri Starr-Helm of the Norman; his sons, Steve Helm and Dave Helm; his sisters, Judy, Susan, and Sally; and his cherished grandchildren, Chris and Courtney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Bernice Helm, and his brothers, Joe Helm and Bill Helm.
