PERRY –
Robert James "Bob" McDonald, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, just two years and one day after his beloved Jeanne went to Heaven. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens with Reverend Robbie Passmore officiating.
Bob was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and lived in Perry, Georgia for sixty-four years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and served as a photographer during his enlistment in Alaska. Soon after being honorably discharged, Bob began working with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a photographer. He became supervisor of the Visual Information Branch and worked at Robins for twenty-two years. During this period of time, he received numerous awards, with the Supervisor of the Year being his most coveted award. Bob transferred to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Inspector General's Office where he was charged with the overview of operations of all Air Logistics' Visual Information Centers, both in-house and contracted. He provided Video Conferencing to all Air Logistics facilities. He retired from Civil Service after thirty years of service.
Bob's fondest memories were traveling by travel trailer all of the United States and Canada with his wife, Jeanne, and their three daughters in tow, taking memorable photographs all along the way. He was an avid canoeist, and loved sailing, singing while playing the guitar, and working in his workshop or music studio. He was a member of The Creations and Seldom Heard bands and continued playing music in his studio until 2022.
Family was everything to Bob; his love for his wife and daughters was so evident in his life. He was especially proud of his daughter's devotion, dedication, and loyalty to him and his wife, Jeanne, in their final years. He will be sorely missed.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Bob are his beloved three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Len Taylor, Melanie and Ricky Francis, and Cindy and Rusty Swartz; his sister, Norma Holby; his grandchildren, Robby Taylor (Allyson), Monika McKellar, Dillon Swartz (Brittany), and Anna Tillotson (Ryan); his great-grandchildren, Hadley Taylor, Nora Taylor, Darby Taylor, Charlee Swartz, Hudson Swartz, and Avery Tillotson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family will be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
