Bobbie Ogburn Marcom, 91 of Garner passed away after a long and full life marked by her devotion to family and others. A lifelong resident of Garner, she graduated from Garner High School in 1952 and carried the values of her hometown with her throughout her life.
Bobbie built a meaningful career as an administrative assistant and secretary, serving the Health Director for the State of North Carolina with professionalism and care. She later continued her work at Peace College and North Carolina State University.
Bobbie was active for many years at Aversboro Road Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Garner. She contributed her time, her talents and her voice-singing in the church choir and she particularly enjoyed working with the Girls in Action.
Bobbie's hobbies were many and reflected her creativity and love of making all things beautiful. She enjoyed crafting of all kinds and was a talented seamstress, whose skill brought joy to family and friends. Her lovely alto voice was a gift she shared generously, from her days singing in a high school quartet to enriching worship services with her harmonies.
Bobbie is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Bobby D. Marcom and their children, Mike, Harrison Ward, Steve (Ginny,) Tim and Angela. She was grandmother to Cameron (Heather), Robert (Anya), Logan, Lacy (Zachary), Erin and Ella and a proud great-grandmother to Justin and Magnolia Marcom.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lillie Ogburn and her daughter, Kathryn M. Ward, whose memory remained close to her heart.
The family will hold a private service to honor Bobbie's life. They are so grateful for the kindness shown by Heartland Hospice, especially Annie and Tiffany and all of the doctors, nurses and assistants in the Heart and Vascular Hospital ICU at Rex, Raleigh. They would also like to express their heartfelt thanks for the many prayers offered on their behalf as they continue to grieve and trust in the Lord.
