Bobbie Gordon Mask, known affectionately to all as Bobbie, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, at the age of 85 in
Alexander City, Alabama, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 23, 1938, in
Hackneyville, Alabama, Bobbie was a beacon of warmth and generosity throughout her life, touching the hearts of those around her with her kindness and courage.
Bobbie's early years in Hackneyville laid the foundation for a life filled with love, family, and service. She was the embodiment of Southern hospitality and was known for her delicious cooking and her love for cross-stitching, which were only surpassed by her passion for fishing. Her joyous spirit and zest for life were infectious, and she could often be found enjoying the company of her beloved "TOPS" group, where she shared her journey of health and friendship.
Her work at Sho Nuff BBQ, owned by her brother, was a testament to her dedication and hard work. Bobbie's nurturing presence was not only felt at home but also within her community, where she was a respected and cherished figure. She was a woman who found great pleasure in the simple things in life - from the thrill of a new travel adventure to the satisfaction of a well-prepared meal shared with family.
Bobbie was a matriarch in the truest sense, loving her family fiercely and with her whole heart, especially her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. She is survived by her three sons, Daryl (Pam) Mask, Randy (Joy) Mask, and Steve (Deana Milam) Mask; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Mask, Heather (Brandon Jones) Mask, Jody Mask, Bobby (Renea) Whiteard, Emory Whiteard, and Kayla Whiteard; and her adored great-grandchildren, Braxton Jones, Marley Kate Mask, Addison Jones, Raygan Jones, Emma Graham, Brennan Whiteard, Kolbie Whiteard, Alyssa Whiteard, Cale Whiteard, Emorie Whiteard, Camryn Whiteard, Ryan Ortiz, and Ellie Ortiz. Her loving brothers, Freddie (Janice) Cason and Gerald (Scarlett) Atchison; and her adopted daughters, Shirley Hutchins and Gabbie Spradley, will also hold her memory dear.
Preceding her in death were her father, Gordon Thomas Belcher; her mother, Norma Odell Belyeu; her beloved husband, Robert Earl Mask; and her grandson, Ryan Mask. Each of these individuals played a significant role in her life, and their memories continue to live on through Bobbie's enduring love and the stories she shared.
Generous, loving, and courageous are the words that best describe Bobbie. She was generous with her time, her resources, and her affection. Her loving nature was evident in every embrace, every meal prepared, and every word of encouragement she gave. Bobbie's courage was displayed in her unwavering strength through life's challenges, always facing them head-on with grace and resilience.
Bobbie Gordon Mask's legacy is one of unconditional love, selfless giving, and an unshakable strength of spirit. She leaves behind a family that is grateful for every moment spent with her, every lesson she taught, and every memory they will cherish forever. Bobbie's life was a tapestry of the love she gave and the love she received - a beautiful legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
As we say farewell to Bobbie, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family, and her memory will always be treasured in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
