Bobbie McDowell passed away peacefully, meeting with her Lord and Savior, on March 11, 2025. At 86 years old, she was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove.
Bobbie was born on February 17, 1939, in Cryer Creek, Texas to Robert and Gertie Bryant. She grew up on her family's farm with her younger brother and sister where she spent her summers picking cotton. She is a class of '57 graduate of Blooming Grove High School. Upon her graduation, Bobbie moved to Dallas and began working at Texas Instruments (TI) as an executive secretary. On November 28, 1959, Bobbie met Bob McDowell and after dating eight months he decided they needed to make a stop at the jewelry store to buy her a ring; 'til this day, he has yet to officially ask her to marry him. While living in Dallas, Bob and Bobbie co-founded four successful high-tech engineering service and sales companies, one of which Bobbie was nominated for the Venture's Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Dallas area. In her later years, she and Bob transitioned back to her country girl roots in Blooming Grove where Bob began dabbling in the cattle business with her controlling the checkbook.
While these were worthy successes for her, the thing Bobbie was most known for was her kind heart and her love for Jesus Christ. She genuinely cared and worried about everyone she met and always had a hug on hand for anyone, including the many friends that came home from school with her own three kids.
She is preceded in death by her father Robert Franklin Bryant and mother Gertie Ruth Bryant. She is survived by her husband Bob McDowell, son Bryan McDowell and wife Janice or Frisco, son Scott McDowell and wife Barbara of Blooming Grove, daughter Beverly Cox and husband Troy of Blooming Grove, honorary daughter Nancy Sykes, brother Jim Bryant and wife Linda of Coppell, and sister Carolyn Brewer of Bedford. She is also proudly survived by her eight grandchildren Casey Zeptner and husband Connor, Collin McDowell, Brandon McDowell, Travis McDowell, Shelby Brosang and husband Nelson, Breanne Cortez and husband Christian, Bridget McDowell, and Tory Cox, and honorary grandson Blake Sykes. Additionally, she is survived by her three great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Levi Brosang, William Cortez, and with two more blessings on the way!
Visitation services will be held on March 15, 2025, from 6-8PM at Griffen-Roughton Funeral home in Corsicana, TX. A celebration of her life will be held on March 16, 2025, at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, TX.
