On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the fairway to Heaven was made clear for Mr. Bobby Eugene Aldrich, who peacefully took his final walk into eternal rest. Born August 26, 1943, in Rowan County, Bobby Aldrich was the beloved son of the late John Wiley Aldrich and Dorothy Gaither Aldrich Henderson. His life was one of quiet strength, humble service, and a deep love for both his family and the game of golf.
Bobby's educational journey began in the Rowan County public school system, where his dedication to learning and excellence was evident early on. A proud 1961 graduate of J.C. Price High School, he went on to earn his degree from Livingstone College in 1966. His professional path led him to serve as Director of Purchasing for North Carolina A&T State University, where his leadership, integrity, and attention to detail left a lasting mark until his retirement in 2007.
A man of discipline and honor, Mr. Aldrich served in the United States Army, where he developed the strategic mindset, focus, and camaraderie that would later define his approach to life-and his golf game. Known throughout Salisbury and beyond for his exceptional skill on the greens, Bobby was more than a player; he was a teacher, mentor, and ambassador for the sport. Whether helping a beginner perfect their swing or sharing tips with seasoned golfers, he approached every lesson with patience and encouragement. His love for the game was so profound that he established a scholarship for Livingstone College's golf program, ensuring that future generations could benefit from the opportunities the sport had given him.
Off the course, Bobby cherished time with his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather whose heart swelled with pride in their accomplishments. Among his most treasured moments were pancake breakfasts with his grandchildren, where laughter flowed as easily as the syrup. He shared a particularly special bond with his oldest grandchild, Cameron Aldrich-a relationship built on trust, love, and mutual admiration.
Those left to celebrate his life and carry forward his memory include his children, Craig Aldrich (Christina) of Phoenix, AZ, and Dr. Cherie Aldrich of Belmont; his sister, Bettye LaShawn Aldrich of New York; seven cherished grandchildren; and a host of colleagues, relatives, friends, and fellow golfers who were blessed to know him.
Bobby's life was a testament to quiet generosity, steadfast values, and finding joy in simple pleasures. He carried himself with dignity and grace, whether walking down a golf fairway or through the halls of his home.
Though the course of life has reached its final hole for Mr. Bobby Aldrich, his spirit remains-still teaching, still encouraging, and still reminding us to take each step with purpose and every shot with confidence.
