Bobby Laverne Bracken left this world on July 7,2024 in Memphis, TN at Lt. Col. Luke Weathers VA Medical Center. He was born on August 29, 1940, in the serene town of McCune, KS to the late James E. and Helen McHaffie Bracken.
He worked 36 years for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was passionate about his service to his country. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had a strong sense of duty and commitment to service.
He received an Associates of Arts degree from a junior college and attended the Kansas Technology Center to train as an Electrician. Besides his professional and military pursuits, Bobby cherished his Church community, but his illnesses and compromised immunity limited his attendance to North Jackson Church of Christ. He also found joy and sense of communion with God when he had a fishing pole in hand.
Among all his joys, he found the greatest joy among family. He cherished his wife, sons and grandchildren. Their love and support formed the cornerstone of his happiness and fulfillment.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Phyllis Bracken, sons, James Bracken (married to Kim Bracken) and Todd Bracken (married to Sheila Bracken); and two grandchildren, Kora Bracken and Jaden Bracken.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Troy Bracken and his sisters, Lacretia V. Stice and Annabell C. Stice.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. July 20, 2024 at Arrington Funeral Home.
As Bobby Bracken peacefully departed this life, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and love for his family. His memory will be cherished by those that had the privilege of knowing him.
