Bobby Lee Faires, 72 years old, of Pampa, Texas peacefully passed away while sleeping on Friday, July 31, 2024. He wasborn in Lamesa, Texas on February 22, 1952, to Lee and Bobbie Faires.
Bob graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock and shortly thereafter, joined the United States Navy and served in the Viet Nam War. On July 9, 1992, Bob married Linda Elam in Hereford. They resided in Friona until moving to Pampa in 2005 and have remained here since. No matter where Bob lived, he has always owned his own plumbing company. For over 50 years, he has owned and operated Bob's Plumbing servicing the panhandle area whereas Linda was the voice on the phone and Bob was the face in the public. Over the years, he has seen the inside of a vast majority of homes and businesses and met many, many people in the community.
As Duece grew up, the family stayed pretty busy with his dirt bike races. Not only did they travel to compete, but Bob was also the pit crew keeping things running in tip top shape in order for Duece to compete. Bob was an avid dirt bike rider, but never had any desire to ride street bikes as he felt they were too unsafe!
If you knew Bob, you also knew that he could be somewhat outspoken and a little territorial (especially about his tools) but his mindset was very old school in that right is right and wrong is wrong no gray area. That's not to say that he didn't get along with others, because he did, however, there was a line that could be crossed! Although he was a little abrasive in some manners, Bob also had a very soft spot on his heart and unbeknownst to people, he gave many services free of charge or for very minimal charge to help out those who were perhaps a little down on their luck or elders who didn't have much to spare, but the good Lord knew and that's all that really matters!
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sherry Peachtree.
Those remaining to carry on his legacy and cherish his memories are his wife, Linda Faires of Pampa; children, Bobby Lee "Duece" Faires II and wife Garnet, Adam Barker and wife Iris all of Pampa, Billy Barker and wife Linda of Phoenix, AZ, Kristen Casey and husband Dean of Monahan; sister, Jill Durante and husband Bill of Alexandria, VA; brothers-in-law, Rodney Elam and wife Susie of Pampa, Gary Elam and wife Bev of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Honoring Bob's wishes, there will not be any services. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Bobby Lee "Bob" Faires, please visit our Tree Store.
