Bobby McGowan

Bobby V. McGowan, 57, of Somerville Indiana, unexpectedly passed at his home on October 30,2025. Bobby was born in Oakland City, Indiana on December 8, 1967, he was the youngest of seventeen children of the late Herbert "Dave" and Thelma "Lou" McGowan.
Bobby was known for his humor, generosity, and unmatched work ethic. For 25 years, right up to the day he passed, he was employed with Fred McCrary Oil as a supervisor. Fred and his son Neil were more than employers to Bobby, they were family.
He loved the simple joy in life, fishing with his brothers, building and fixing things, tending his garden, cooking (his shrimp boils were legendary), mushroom hunting-with friendly competition among the brothers, poker, darts, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, and pool days with his grandkids.
A favorite tradition was choosing the family Christmas tree every year on his birthday when he took his kids and grandkids to pick the perfect tree.
Bobby was the glue that held his family together. He'd help anyone who needed it and treated friends like family. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren fiercely.
He is survived by the love of his life Tammy Teeters; his children, Bobby V. McGowan Jr., Emily (Aaron) Kell, Darian Wilson, Clifton Teeters, Samantha McGowan; his grandchildren, Cleo Dennison, Axl McGowan, Aubree McGowan, Spencer Teeters, Karlee McGowan, Annabella McGowan, Parker Kell, Preslei Kell, Weston Teeters, Kruz McGowan; his five brothers and six sisters; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Hazel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Kerry Teeters; his grandson, Leo Dennison; and four brothers and one sister.
