Bobby Reed, 93, of Marion, passed away Sunday evening, March 23, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in Buncombe County on September 20, 1931 to the late Clarence Reed and Elsie Penley Reed. As the owner and operator of Reed Plumbing, Bobby earned a reputation as a skilled and dependable plumber. His commitment in service made him a trusted man who anyone could call upon at any time.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bobby was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took immense joy in spending time with his family, particularly with his great-grandchildren, who brought lots of happiness into his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda; two granddaughters, Rebecca Buckner and Cassie Fender; and his siblings, Ruby Hurt, Charles Reed, Clarence Reed Jr, Wayne Reed, Harold Reed Sr., and an infant sister, Pearl.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Ella Morgan Reed; daughters, Barbara Reed, Sharon “Ann” Fender, Lynn Buckner, and Sandra Fender (Kenny); grandchildren, Stephen Buckner, II (Kayla), Timothy Buckner, Ryan Buckner, Chelsea Lowery (Thomas), Jordan Pressley (Andrew), Kendra Fender (Brandon Lamb), and Callie Fender (Tyler Cook); and thirteen great-grandchildren with two on the way.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Beam Funeral Service from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Leo Kuykendall will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
