Doris Jeanell Jones, a beloved woman born on July 3, 1945, in McDowell County, peacefully departed this life on August 26, 2025, at her residence. She was a God-loving woman who brought joy to everyone around her, earning her the affectionate title of "Granny" by all who knew and loved her.
Doris was known for her kindness, her passion for cooking, and her love for coffee, which she often enjoyed while tending to her flowers. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious meals. Doris's nurturing spirit was reflected in her relationships with her family, and she cherished the time spent with them. She took pride in being a member of the Harvest Time Baptist Church, a church family that meant a great deal to her.
Doris leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Her surviving family includes her son, Kevin Jones, and his wife, Sandra; her step-son, Terry Jones; her brothers, Jimmy McKinney and Ronnie McKinney and wife Debra; and her grandchildren: Caleb Jones and his wife, Megan; Ruby Elliott Pinson and her husband, Dylan; Melissa Hopper and her husband, Shawn; Tina Carpenter; and April Mears, Eddie Carpenter (Megan), along with her great-grandchildren: Colt Jones, Trenton Carpenter, Trinity Mears, Braydon Mears, and Mason Carpenter.
Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Jones; her father, Steve McKinney; her mother, Eddie Mitchell McKinney; and two sisters and six brothers.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion, North Carolina. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Doris Jeanell Jones’s legacy of love, faith, and family will forever remain embedded in the hearts of all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
