It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bobby Lee Ward, Sr., age 86, of Crowley, Texas, who departed this life on January 6, 2025. Bobby was born on January 13, 1938, in Barry, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army for 20 years, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to his country. Following his military service, he dedicated an additional 17 years to the United States Post Office, eventually retiring from this role.
In 1978, Bobby married Doris Irene Dunn in Burleson, Texas. Together, they shared 30 years of marriage until her passing in 2009. Bobby was a man of great generosity and community spirit; he established a scholarship for teachers in the Johnson County area, reflecting his dedication to education and the advancement of future generations.
He is survived by his children, Paula Wincek, Virginia Black and her husband Ealy, Bobbie Ward, Jr. and his wife Nancy, and Kemper Edgin. Bobby was also a cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His sister, Jewell Mooney, remains as part of his enduring family legacy.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Elijah Ward and Thelma Smith; as well as his brothers, Fred Alvin and Kenneth Ward.
Services to celebrate Bobby's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel, with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Ward, Mathew Ward, Andrew Ward, Kyler Wincek, Richard Black, and Danny Mooney.
Bobby Lee Ward, Sr. will be remembered for his dedication to family, service, and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be fondly cherished.
