Bobby Don Whitten, 95, of Mesquite, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 5, 2025.
Bobby was born on October 20, 1929, in Memphis, Texas to J.T. Whitten and Lola B. Adcock.
"Bro. Bob" loved the Lord and loved His church. Bob and JoAnn faithfully served the Lord all the years of their marriage as he pastored churches from far west Texas to the Metroplex – Anton, Pecos, Odessa, Lamesa, and Mesquite. His last pastorate, Friendship Baptist Church in Mesquite, was from 1974 until 2019. His testimony was that in all the years of his and JoAnn's marriage they never had a need that the Lord did not supply. If he could speak to you today, he would encourage you to trust the Savior, Jesus Christ, and commit your life to faithfully serving Him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years JoAnn Sons Whitten; parents J.T. Whitten and Lola B. Adcock Whitten; brothers J.B. Whitten and Darrel Dean Whitten.
Bobby is survived by his daughter Karen Isaacs; sons Steve Whitten and wife Julie, and Tim Whitten; daughter Deborah Westmoreland and husband Wes; six grandchildren Amanda Castner (Joe), Rachel Obenhaus (Matt), Brock Parker (Amber), Laci Spencer (Jason), Dustin Whitten (Bianca), and Dakota Whitten; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers Rev. Ken Whitten and Rev. Doyce Whitten; he is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and he loved all his family well.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial offerings to Friendship Baptist Church or to BMAA Missions (bmaglobal.org).
