Sheri Lynn Bowden Carey, 62, passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side on September 23, 2025 from triple negative breast cancer. She was born to C. M. Bowden, Jr. and Nelta Marceile Lathem Bowden on February 15, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. She had 2 sisters. She graduated from Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas. She attended the University of Houston from 1986-1989. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree.
She worked at a few places over the years. She taught aerobic classes at Ballys Health Club. She worked at Tom Thumb. She created and was the owner of "The Carey Group" from 1998-2005. She was a Commercial Real Estate Broker for Marcus and Millichap from 2005-2014. After that, she was a Commercial Property Tax Consultant for O'Connor and Associates from 2014 to the present.
She grew up in Garland, Texas. She moved to Florida for a short amount of time. She lived in Austin, Texas and then moved to Houston, Texas where she lived for the rest of her life. She was a part of many things in Houston. She helped and Volunteered at some pet rescue places. She loved animals, especially dogs. She has had several dogs over the years. She didn't have any children. Her dogs were her kids. The neighborhood dogs would come to her house for treats, food, and some love. She found one of her dogs when she was on a 100 mile bike ride. Roadie. He was a tiny lab puppy covered in ants by the road. She knocked on doors until she found a person who would keep him until she finished the ride. She came back and got him and took him home. She roller skated and rode mountain bikes- crashed a few times with some pretty brutal scrapes and bruises. She went hiking with friends and traveled to many places. She always had great stories to tell and something fun or funny to say. She loved everyone and was loved by many. She loved cars and driving.
She wrote a paper about her first bout with cancer because she wanted to help others on their journey. She was planning on staying and beating this cancer. God had other plans and called her home.
She loved her family and her friends. She loved some "who done its" like our mom. She loved the "Peace Rose" that was our Dads favorite.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Laura DeWeese and husband, Robbie; Celia Swiger and husband, Brad.
Aunt- Sally Bowden
Cousins: Nora Cosbey, Lisa Hicks Lombardi and her son, Joey, Marce Hicks Farr and husband, Kenneth
Nieces and Nephews: Kevin and wife, Sarah Wallick and children, Austin and Taylor; Collin Wallick and wife Kelsey, and daughter, Hallie; Casey Wallick and wife, Melissa, and son, Jasper; Carey Wallick; Casey DeWeese; and great niece, Anna Carver
She was preceded in death by her Father, C. M. Bowden, Jr.; Mother, Nelta Marceile Bowden; Uncle Ted Crosbey, and Nephew Justin Carver.
