Boneita Lou (Allison) Hukill peacefully passed away at her home on May 4, 2025, at the age of 84. Affectionately known as "Granny" by family and friends alike, Boneita was a cherished matriarch whose legacy of love, service, and community spirit will be long remembered.
She is survived by her devoted daughters: Evelyn and Darrol Brisendine of Orlando, Florida, Karen and Phil Foster of Frisco, Elizabeth Taylor of Quinlan, and Mary and Jason Covington of Quinlan. Boneita also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends. She is also survived by her two older brothers, Bill Allison and Jack Allison, both of Quinlan.
Boneita was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, the love of her life, Jesse William Hukill, her granddaughter, Markie Ann Taylor, son-in-law, Mark Allen Taylor, 2 sisters, and 8 brothers.
Born on April 1, 1941, in Quinlan, Texas, Boneita was the youngest of 13 children born to James Luther Allison and Annie DeAlva Hodge. A proud student of Quinlan ISD, she remained a lifelong resident of her hometown, where she built a life centered around family, faith, and community.
For 28 years, Boneita served the Quinlan Independent School District as a dedicated nutrition worker. She was an enthusiastic supporter of local youth programs, especially the high school drill team and football concession stand operations. Her deep commitment to her community was evident in her many volunteer efforts, including organizing the first-ever Quinfest celebration, leading multiple St. Jude’s Bike-a-Thon fundraisers, and serving as an election judge.
Boneita had a zest for life and a passion for creativity. She enjoyed Diet Pepsi, drawing, puzzles, crocheting, and family traditions such as the annual Easter egg hunt, and the "right/left" game every Christmas. She also devoted herself to preserving her family and community history, conducting extensive genealogical research. Many of her contributions—including historic family photographs and a 100-year-old family Bible—are now part of the Quinlan History Museum's collection.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Quinlan Funeral Home. A celebration of Boneita’s life will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., also at Quinlan Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at IOOF Cemetery.
Boneita's warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
