Bonnie Lea Bassett Ditto, age 64, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died at her home in Elizabeth City, NC, on August 28, 2025. Born on March 2, 1961, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Norman Filmore Bassett and Isla Lea Albertson Bassett, she was the wife of Russell "Rusty" Ditto, Jr.
A devoted homemaker, Bonnie found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving home. Her passions extended to collecting porcelain dolls, a hobby that reflected her affection for beauty and detail. Bonnie's creative spirit was further expressed through her love of building dollhouses for her grandchildren. Her life was adorned with the gentle grace of butterflies, creatures she loved and admired for their delicate beauty and transformative journeys.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories shared with her devoted husband, Rusty; her daughter, Candice Cobarrubia and husband John "JR" of NC; her sons, David Woodrow Newton of VA, Timothy Filmore Anderson and wife Aiza of VA, and Christopher Paul Anderson of NC; her stepson, Russell Ditto III of OH; her sister, Sherrie Barden and husband Kenny of VA; her sister-in-love, Kay Hance; and brother-in-love, Danny Wesserling. She will also be fondly remembered by her 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, as well as her brother, Jeff Bassett.
A memorial service to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Collins officiating. Bonnie's service will be live streamed on her obituary page at www.twifordfh.com.
