Bonnie Sue Stewart Smith Wilson Gibbs, at the age of 86, passed away on December 6, 2024, surround by her loving family. Bonnie was born in Doyle, Louisiana, on December 17, 1937, to her parents, Percy and Juanita Stewart. She was a graduate of Doyle High School Class of 1956; and a former employee of the Livingston Parish School Board. Bonnie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Livingston where she dedicated her time to the Condolence Committee. She was a woman of faith and set high standards for herself and family. She had a very passionate personality with a quiet demeanor and deep emotional spirit. Bonnie was known for her elegance and style. She found great joy in traveling and attending the theatre. However, her greatest joy on earth was being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was an extremely caring and kind woman who is already deeply missed by all those that love her and continue her legacy.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila S. Hughes (Robert "Bobby" Hughes), Leslie S. Ellzey, and Desiree W. Sadler (David Sadler); son, John T. Wilson, Jr. (Traci M. Wilson); step-daughter, Karla Wilson-Zimmerman (Steve Zimmerman); sisters, Betty S. Wilson (Paul Wilson), Jaunette S. Courtney (Michael Courtney); grandchildren, Julia H. Morris (Jimmy Morris), Marcus Hughes (Beth P. Hughes), Charles Ellzey (Jennifer D. Ellzey), Johnathan Ellzey, Cassie E. McDonald (Devin McDonald), Destiny Sadler, and John Tyler Wilson; great-grandchildren, Wesley Hughes, Melody Morris, Ryder Hughes, Lauren and David Ellzey, and Beckham and Baylor McDonald, and many wonderful nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents Percy Thomas Stewart and Juanita Ruth McDonald Stewart; brothers, James "Burt" Stewart and Roy Ray Stewart (Vivian Beregi Stewart); husbands, Charles G. Smith, John T. Wilson, Sr., and Andrew F. Gibbs; grandson, Joshua A. Hughes; and son-in-law, David W. Ellzey; and step-son, Steve Wilson.
The pallbearers will be Charles Ellzey, Johnathan Ellzey, John Tyler Wilson, David Sadler, Devin McDonald, and Wesley Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Ellzey, Ryder Hughes, and Beckham McDonald.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers: Kelli Cavalier, Monica Okada, and Vicky Moore and to the entire Vital Caring Hospice team for the dedicated care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at First Baptist Church of Livingston on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Charles Ellzey and musical arrangements by pianist Mary Herget, with interment to follow, officiated by Pastor Brian Gunter, to follow in Old Red Oak Cemetery.
