Bonnita J. Murtaugh, affectionately known as the "Ridge Runner," passed away on October 2, 2025, in Syracuse, NY, at the age of 78. She was born on March 14, 1947, in Potsdam, NY, to the late Homer and Amy Rockwood .
Bonnita had a successful career at General Electric, where she dedicated over 15 years of her professional life. However, it was her role as a loving mother and devoted wife that defined her legacy. She raised five sons-Boyce (Lenora) Murtaugh, Stan Murtaugh, Mark Murtaugh, Matthew Murtaugh, and Thomas Murtaugh.
She is also survived by her sisters, Katie Stewart and Ila Crump. Bonnita was predeceased by her beloved children, Amy Benjamin and Thomas Murtaugh; and her parents, Homer and Amy Rockwood.
In keeping with Bonnita's wishes, there will be no services. A private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
Bonnita will be profoundly missed by her family, who will carry her memory in their hearts. Her spirit, marked by love and dedication, remains a guiding light for all who knew her.
