With heavy hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Christa Marilyn Baxter on July 3, 2025. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Christa lived her life surrounded by the people and places she loved most.
Christa was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel like family. She had a deep love for cooking and believed that a good meal could bring people together - and it always did. Her door was always open, and her table always had room for one more.
She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, James ‘Tony’ Baxter - the love of her life, with whom she is now reunited. She is survived by her two children, James N. Baxter and Sonya M. Baxter; her beloved grandchildren, Aniah Baxter and Avaeh Herzog; her parents, Nikolaus and Marilyn Raith; and her sisters, Nicole Raith and Marlene Levett.
Christa was the kind of person who made the world feel a little softer. She gave without hesitation, loved without condition, and made sure those around her always felt seen and cared for.
