After a brief illness, Mary Collier Baxter, age 84, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, surrounded by her daughters and husband of 63 years, A. Clyde Baxter. She was born July 1, 1941, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Dr. James Porter Campbell Collier and Mrs. Virginia Lacey Collier.

Preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Aunt Claudia Lacey, her sister Virginia Slade Collier, and her brother William Alexander "Bill" Collier. Mary is survived by her husband and her three daughters: Claudia, Ginger, and Kathryn Plaire and husband J. Chadwick, and her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy and Abigail and Mary Frances Plaire, and her older brothers, Dr. Porter Collier, and Judge Lacey Collier and his wife, Beverly.

Mary was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Cullman, Alabama, and the University of Alabama, where she served as president of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

A 55-year resident of Stone Mountain, she was the proprietor of Children's Fashions on Main in Tucker, Georgia from 1976 to 1990 and the Director of Operations for A+ Learning Labs, Inc., also, in Tucker from 1989 to 2015. Upon retirement, Mary was a resident of Park Springs in Stone Mountain. She loved puzzles, games, crosswords, birds and butterflies, competitive bridge, and most of all-her family and friends.

A private burial will be held on the grounds of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit on October 8, 2025, with a celebration of life to follow in December.
