Boyce Allen Burns, age 73, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 2:02 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL. He was born December 27, 1950 in Russellville, AR, the son of Harold Burns and Inez Ella Roberts Burns. On May 6, 1980 he married Amanda Lane Lingafelter in Texarkana, AR.
Survivors include his loving wife, Amanda Burns of Martinsville, IL; sons, Laif Burns of Martinsville, IL and Derrick Clark of Champaign, IL; brothers, Roger Burns (Louise) of Dardanelle, AR and Robert Burns (Susan) of AR; sister, Linda English (Mikey) of Russellville, AR; grandchildren, Leo Burns, Ronan Burns, Ben Clark and Natalie Veach; and lifetime friend, David Beavers. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Stewart.
Allen was a horse trainer and jockey for many years. He also worked for the Martinsville School District for more than ten years.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington Street, Martinsville, IL. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL at a later date.
