With a spirit filled with Elvis tunes and a heart as vast as the California redwoods, we bid a tender farewell to Boyd Lynn Hawes. A beloved brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Lynn was a man whose life radiated compassion, kindness, and joy, and he touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Lewiston, Utah and raised in Ogden. Lynn grew up with a deep love for family, faith, and music. He was a man of simple pleasures, known in his younger years for riding his bicycle all over Ogden often with a big smile on his face. Lynn lived his whole life with a spirit of curiosity and delight.

He developed lifelong friendships through his kindness and generosity, and he carried that same openness with him everywhere he went. He held many jobs over the course of his life enjoying every single one of them and loved being a part of many community groups down in California where he made countless friends.

A devoted Elvis enthusiast, Lynn filled his days with music, often sharing that joy with everyone around him. His passion for the King was boundless-he cherished every song, every movie, and even the spirit of Elvis himself. His room reflected that devotion, graced with memorabilia ranging from blankets and pillows to treasured photos and keepsakes. The only thing greater than Lynn's love for Elvis was his love for his family and friends.

Animals also held a special place in Lynn's heart. His beloved dogs-Angel, his hound dog Spreckels, and Miss Ruby Roo-they were not just pets but were great companions who brought him much happiness and comfort. He had special bonds with them, another testament to his gentle, loving nature.

Lynn was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynn found deep joy and comfort in his faith. His testimony was not just in words, but in the way he lived-always ready to help, always ready to love. Kindness was his religion, as he lived by the words of the Book of Mormon; his service was his joy, his compassion was his faith, and his love was his testament.

For the last 23 years of his life, Lynn resided with his sister and brother-in-law in California, where he found immense joy in the beauty of the redwoods, the magic of the ocean, and the warmth of community. His smile, generosity, and ability to make everyone feel special will be remembered by all who met him. Wherever Lynn went, he left a lasting impact. His presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt.

The world feels a bit quieter without Lynn, but his melody lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He is now reunited with his parents, Boyd and LaRue Hawes, and his brothers Bruce, Don, and Dave. Lynn is survived by his sister Rose, his two brothers Randy and Rick, two brothers-in-law Jon and Dan, and one sister-in-law, Linda. He also leaves behind 19 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom adored him.

Though we will miss him, we are grateful for the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he shared so freely.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, where a viewing will also be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.

As we celebrate the life of Lynn Hawes, we invite you to share your memories and photos on the memorial page. May these shared moments of joy, laughter, and love help paint a vibrant portrait of a man whose spirit touched so many lives.

Lynn's family would like to express their gratitude to all who loved and cared for him throughout his life. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.
