J.M. White Funeral Home & Cremations - HendersonHENDERSON- Boyd Peoples “Pete” Richardson, Jr., 74, of Stewart Farm Road, died Monday, October 6, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 19, 1951 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Doris Twisdale Richardson and Boyd Peoples Richardson, Sr. Pete retired from Purolator where he was vice president of the I.T. Department and was an I.T. instructor at Vance Granville Community College. He was a member of Tabernacle Methodist Church of Townsville where he sang in the choir and was past chairman of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee and the past chairman of the Administrative Committee as well as the Adult Sunday School teacher for many years. Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Franklin Gun Club. He loved Duke Blue Devil basketball.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Tabernacle Methodist Church of Townsville by Rev. Tommy Privette.
Pete is survived by his wife of 37 years , Karan Hamlet Richardson of the home; his daughter, Angela R. Woodley (Don) of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Jeremy Wayne Phelps (Julie) of Franklinton and Justin Hamlet Phelps (April) of Louisburg; four grandchildren, Jordan Moss (Marissa), Michaela Phelps, Lucas Lane and Jay Phelps, two great grandchildren, Maci Hunt and Mira Moss; a brother, Mark Richardson (Karen) and his four legged riding partner, “Sugar.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Richardson, Sr.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Tabernacle Methodist Church and at other times they will be at the home.
