HENDERSON- Mrs. Doris Twisdale Richardson, 93, a resident of Tungsten Mine Rd., passed away Monday, September 29, 2025. Born August 9, 1932 in Vance Co., she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Norwood Twisdale and Cephas Lee Twisdale, Sr. and was the widow of Boyd Richardson, Sr. Doris was the oldest member of Tabernacle Methodist Church in Townsville.
A memorial service will be held Friday October 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Tabernacle Methodist Church by the Rev. Tommy Privette.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by two sons, Boyd “Pete” Richardson Jr. (Karan) of Henderson and Mark Richardson (Karen) of Townsville; five grandchildren, Angela Woodley (Don), Jeffrey Richardson, Jr. (Kelly), Holden Kurwicki (Paige), Justin Phelps (April), and Jeremy Phelps (Julie); eight great grandchildren, Cameron Kurwicki, McKenna Wyman (Caleb), Kennedy Covert, Preston Richardson, Michaela Phelps, Jay Phelps; Jordan Moss, and Lucas Lane; a great-great granddaughter, Lyla Wyman; her sister, Linda Gill (Ricky) of Henderson; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Twisdale of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Richardson; a sister, Annie Mae Abbott; and four brothers, Cephas Lee Twisdale Jr, Norwood “Dick” Twisdale Sr., Macon N. Twisdale, and James “Jimmy” Twisdale.
The family will receive friends following the service on Friday in the church fellowship hall. At other times they will be at the homes of Boyd “Pete” and Karan Richardson 2757 Stewart Farm Road, Hendeson NC 27537 and Mark and Karen Richardson, 11555 Hwy 39-N Henderson NC 27537.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Methodist Church of Townsville PO Box 100, Townsville, NC 27584.
