William Boyd Simpson was born on September 11, 1941, and passed from this life on September 14, 2025. Known to most simply as "Boyd," he lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and deep love for his family.
Boyd had a passion for finding a good deal and a love for discovering unique treasures. He could often be found at auctions, garage sales, and flea markets, always on the hunt for something interesting. He also enjoyed fishing and taking the family camping, trips that created cherished memories. Family was everything to Boyd, and he never passed up an opportunity to spend time together, especially on family outings and vacations.
A proud fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, he looked forward to football season and cheering on his team. He also enjoyed watching classic television, especially Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show. Boyd loved dining out, with Cheddar's and El Chico among his favorite spots to enjoy a good meal.
He attended Norman High School and went on to work at the University of Oklahoma, where he dedicated the majority of his career. After 32 years of service, he retired, having left a lasting impression through his dedication and work ethic.
Boyd and his beloved wife, Dorothy, were also involved in property management. Together, they owned and managed around 22 rental properties, handling everything from cleaning and repairs to air conditioning and electrical work. They were a true team, and Boyd's commitment to providing for his family was evident in everything he did.
The couple also enjoyed traveling in their trailer, taking trips to Branson, Canton (Texas), and Dogtown. These getaways brought them joy and time together doing what they loved.
Boyd was known for his dry sense of humor and quick one-liners. He had a way of making people laugh, especially with one of his favorite replies: when his daughter would say, "I love you," he'd often respond, "I love me, too." His wit, charm, and warmth made him a joy to be around.
Family gatherings, especially the annual Simpson Family Christmas Party, were among his favorite traditions. He was a devoted husband, father, brother-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Boyd's love, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Robertson and her husband, Mark, and Ginger Kirkland; his grandchildren, Joshua Kirkland and Riley Robertson; his great-grandson, Devan Kirkland; and his nieces Geannie Wurst, Tammy Maus, Mickie Bolenbaugh, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Reuben Simpson and Christine Simpson, his beloved wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Debbie Simpson; and his sisters, Billie June Scott, Sharlene Ann Dabney and Katherine York; his nephew Joe Dabney.
Boyd leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and strong family values - one that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
