Bradley (Brad) Donald Dutler passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
Brad was born on September 5, 1974, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Sharman and Darrell Dutler. He grew up in Spencer, Iowa, and graduated from Spencer High School in 1993. A dedicated three-sport athlete, Brad especially excelled at golf. It was during his time working at the Spencer Golf and Country Club that his lifelong passion for the game, particularly the business side of it, began to take shape.
He continued pursuing both at Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management in 1997. Brad went on to serve as a general manager for various golf companies, a career that allowed him to live and work in several states across the country. Most recently, he was employed with Kemper Sports.
While at Central, Brad met Wendy, who would become his wife and lifelong partner. They were married on April 27, 2002, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and together were raising their daughter Peyton, who was the center of Brad's world.
Brad had many joys in life, but his favorites were spending time with his family, especially bantering with his brother Brian, playing golf, watching Peyton play sports, and cheering her on from the sidelines, often with a scorebook in hand. He was equally proud to watch his nephew Noah play baseball and rarely missed a game. A devoted sports fan, Brad especially loved rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Cubs.
Outside of sports, Brad enjoyed reading, trying new breweries, laughing with neighbors and friends, and trading dad jokes with Peyton. He also took pride in smoking meats and often swapped tips and techniques with his "Smoke-in-Law," Kaia.
Brad will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and the joy he brought to every family gathering. He had a way of making people feel truly seen and cared for. Whether it was buying a meal, helping with a fundraiser, or offering a ride to the airport, Brad was always the first to step up.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his wife, Wendy Dutler, and daughter, Peyton Dutler, of Lantana, Texas; his father, Darrell Dutler, of Spencer, Iowa; his brother, Brian Dutler, and wife Kaia of McKinney, Texas; his nephew, Noah Dutler, of Winona, Minnesota; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Van Houten, of Lantana, Texas; his sister-in-law, Dawn Campbell, and husband Andy of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Sharman; maternal grandparents, Harold and Violet Nichtern; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorris Dutler.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Eldorado Country Club, 2604 Country Club Drive, McKinney, Texas 75072. Attendees are encouraged to wear their preferred golf attire or Iowa Hawkeye fan gear. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brad's honor to the Spencer Youth Baseball & Softball Association or directed to support the family.
