On Saturday, August 10, 2024, Bradley P. Strayer, 68, of Felton, passed away peacefully at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Brad was born on August 27, 1955 in York to the late Roland Strayer and Theda A. (Rupp) Taylor.
He graduated from Dallastown High School in 1973 then worked in insurance and car sales for several years before graduating from Barber School. He was a barber in Shrewsbury for over 30 years, several of those years being self employed.
Throughout his life, Brad enjoyed hunting, exploring nature, amateur photography, riding his motorcycle, listening to good music, playing his keyboard, and practicing taekwondo, in which he achieved the rank of black belt.
Brad was a funny guy who was always joking around. Some would say he was a "PUN-loving" person, especially his friend of 58 years, Gary Gearhart, and his poker buddies, Randy Kopp, Craig Hoke, Bobby Peters, Rod Kline, Barry Humbert, and Dave Fry, notoriously known as the "Magnificent Seven" group that Brad was in. He loved all of those guys and enjoyed all of the laughs and memories that they shared over the years.
Brad is survived by one son, Josh Berkheimer and his wife Alyssa; one brother, Troy Strayer and wife Stephanie; one sister, Delora Smith and husband Dave; three grandchildren, Jason, Roman and Cash Berkheimer; and six nieces and nephews; he was also survived by his 8 year old boxer, Cooper; and Michael Davis and Nicole Kibler, who were his kids at heart, just not by blood.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Wade Strayer.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, August 18, from 1:00pm until a funeral service begins at 3:00pm at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brad's memory to help fund a memorial trust are recommended to: The Bradley Strayer Memorial Fund: Members 1st FCU, PO Box 8893, Camp Hill, PA 17001.
