Mr. Brady Blankenship, age 81, of Rosedale, Virginia, passed away Peacefully to his Heavenly home on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born February 15, 1942 in Page, Virginia, he was a son of the late Richard and Catherine Hess Blankenship. He was a coal miner for twenty-five years and was a member of the Church of the Living God of Honaker, Virginia. He enjoyed singing in church, loved to talk, and never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gaynelle Hubbard; his second wife, Sylvia Jean (June) Ratliff Blankenship; one infant son, Eddie Ray Blankenship; three step-grandchildren, Gregory Dye, Andy Dye, and Kevin Dye; five sisters, Gladys Blankenship, Gertrude Blankenship, Betty Blankenship, Goldie Hicks, and Dollie Hale; nine brothers, Estil, Robert, Luther, Ben, Floyd, Bill, Linkous, and James Blankenship. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife of fifteen years, Sharon Blankenship; one daughter, Michelle Reynolds and husband, Rondo of Honaker; two step-daughters, Goldie Brown and husband, Mark, and Shelia Dye and husband, Cecil all of Swords Creek; grandchildren, Katlin Reynolds and Brianna Reynolds of Honaker; two step-grandchildren, Joe Dye and Michael Dye; two special little dogs, Rosie Leigh and Bat Bat; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Pepper Patch Cemetery at Rosedale, Virginia with Rev. Darrell Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Reynolds, Randall Reynolds, Andrew Murray, Allan Murray, Robbie Reynolds, and Gerald Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Lester, Eddie Brown, Roy Reynolds, Michael Murray, Edward Peck, and Adam Reynolds.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Joe Dye officiating.
