Brandon Pierce Gaede, born April 28, 1995, in Colby, Kansas, to Eric Gaede and Dena Britton. He passed away on June 27th, 2025 at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, Kansas. Brandon was raised in Colby, Kansas and graduated from Colby High School in 2013, where he participated in football, wrestling, and track. Brandon began his career in law enforcement immediately following graduation as a Jailer at the Thomas County Sheriff's Office. While working for Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Brandon attended the Criminal Justice program at Colby Community College, graduating with an Associate of Science degree in 2015. In June 2017, Brandon went to work as a Sheriff's Deputy in Phillips County. He attended the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). He was President of the 247th Basic Training Class. During Brandon's career with the Sheriff's Office he was a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a drone operator. In 2023 Brandon was promoted to Sergeant and in 2024 he was promoted to Undersheriff. Early in his career in Phillips County, he met the love of his life, Karlye Stephen. Brandon and Karlye got engaged in the summer of 2018. In February 2019 they welcomed their first child, a boy, named Axel Owen. On October 10th, 2020 at their church in Stuttgart, Kansas, Brandon and Karlye were united in marriage. Their love for each other was undeniable. In January of 2022 their love and family grew by another boy, Otto Knox. Just when they thought their hearts couldn't grow any bigger, God blessed Brandon and Karlye with their daughter, Emilie (me-lee) Jo in March of 2023. Brandon was a true family man. He was dedicated to his children and going to all of their activities. One of their favorite things to do in the evening was playing "Dog Pile" in the living room, typically before bed when the kids were supposed to be getting settled down for bed. He shared his love of old cars and fishing with his children, especially his oldest, Axel. You could always find one or more of the kids right by his side when it came to fixing a vehicle or getting a project done around the house. Not only was Brandon dedicated to his family, he was dedicated to his career right until the very last moment when God called him to his Eternal Home. Brandon was always willing to lend a listening ear and be a friend. Brandon will always be remembered for being a genuine, one of a kind person. He is a true hero and his legacy will live on in his family and community. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents Denny and Mollie Nissen; Grandfather in-laws LeRoy Stephen and Butch Miller of Phillipsburg. Brandon is survived by wife Karlye and children, Axel, Otto, and Emilie, all of the home; father, Eric & wife Alyssa Gaede of Colby; mother Angie Gaede of Atwood; his in-laws, Gary and Amy Stephen of Phillipsburg; his brother, Steven (Hannah) Gaede of Shelbyville, TN; sister Sami (Coy)Talsma and daughter, Marley, of Colby, and sister Molly Tolle of Colby; grandparents Floyd & Marsha Gaede of Colby, and Richard and Catherine Britton, also of Colby.
